THE NEW PARENT SUPPORT GROUP

The journey of becoming a parent is one of the most transformative experiences a person can go through in life. Unfortunately, so many of us don’t have the support we want and deserve to move through the challenges we face along the way. The New Parent Support Group is here to help new parents feel less alone as they move through this unique time of life.

The second 6 week cohort of this group will be offered in Spring 2024. The group is open to anyone who identifies as a new parent (newborn-toddler) including queer parents, trans and gender-nonconforming parents, and non-gestational parents.

THE NEW PARENT DIARIES

The New Parent Diaries is a collective blog for anyone along the journey of becoming a parent. It is a therapeutic writing space and resource for all parents, including queer parents, trans and gender-nonconforming parents, and cisgender fathers.

Between becoming parents during a pandemic and living in an already isolating society, many of us long for the ancient tradition of learning about and processing the new parent experience in community. TNPD is a place to process the immense rite of passage that is becoming a parent through writing, being witnessed, and reading others’ honest accounts and finding some shared experience reflected back.

We want to include as many voices here as possible, from as many walks of life as we can reach. Please help this project be the best it can be by sharing it far and wide!

THE HEALERS COVEN

The Healers Coven is in development and I am seeking participants for when the time is right to launch. Please reach out if you are interested in participating!

We are in a moment of massive societal transformation that calls for healing of the body, mind, and spirit as well as that of our social systems and institutions. As healing arts practitioners, we have a unique role to play in this time… and that unique role comes with a unique set of challenges. How can we work towards systemic change, and support others in doing so too, without burning ourselves out? How can we use our deep wells of resources and skills to help midwife the birth of a more just world? How can we support and co-empower one another so that we can continue to do our work in a way that is physically, emotionally, and spiritually sustainable?

The Healers Coven is a space for witchy* therapists, social workers, medical professionals, acupuncturists, herbalists, energy and body workers, coaches, and other diverse facilitators of healing to gather in monthly ritual. This group will weave together elements from earth-based spirituality, trauma-informed practice, and expressive arts, all held together with the container of an intentional circle. Witches and activists have long known the power of groups and the truth that our healing is interconnected. Let’s gather in mutual support to counter the burnout and isolation that is inherent in the colonialist-capitalist systems we are transitioning out of. The goal is to help participants feel connected to themselves, to each other, and to Source so we can sustainably do the healing work we are here to do.

The Healers Coven is facilitated by Ellie Lotan, MFT. As a group facilitator I incorporate creative and intuitive modalities to help folks feel the relief that comes from connecting to their inner guidance and to one another. I know from personal experience both what it’s like to search for these tools alone and what it’s like to be supported by the unique power of a group. Please note that this is a peer support group and not group therapy or group supervision.

Fee: Sliding scale fee TBD. A portion of proceeds will go directly to an organization dedicated to supporting Black and Indigenous healers.

Please contact ellielotantherapy(at)gmail.com for more information.

*Note: I use the term “witchy” here to refer to anyone who draws resource from nature, the divine feminine, ritual/ceremony, magic, and/or collective power and liberation.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM: DIAGRAMMING THE DIVINE

Kabbalah asks its practitioners to continuously diagram the 10 Divine energies (“The Sefirot”) that constitute the cosmos. While the Tree of Life is the most famous of these diagrams, Kabbalah is full of other models of sacred geometry—full of circles, spirals, lines, and letters. Playing upon the richness and fluidity of these diagrams, Kabbalah urges each devotee to make their own map of divinity, informed both by Kabbalah and one’s own creativity.

This four-part workshop is an invitation to diagram your own spirituality/theology using kabbalistic models and maps. In our opening session, we will explore the historical evolution of sefirot diagrams, from simple drawings found in medieval manuscripts to a ten-foot long, nineteenth-century map of the kabbalistic worlds. In subsequent sessions, each participant will identify and name their own 10 sefirot, and then create a diagram (using an array of artistic media) that maps the dynamics and interactions between those sefirot. In the closing session, participants will share their diagrams and use literary devices from the Zohar to reflect on their own experiences diagramming the sacred.

Co-taught with Dr. Yosef Rosen through Hamaqom/The Place.
